Default canoe the harpeth

coming up mid May I will be going with my wife and a couple from work to rent a couple canoes on the Harpeth for the all day trip.

My friend and I were going to bring a pole for a little fishing.
any suggestions on some easy fishing down the Harpeth?

just a couple light rods with a bobber and some red worms?

want them to have fun and catch some fish but this will be our first time fishing this area and not sure what an easy target would be or the best method.

I think the easiest way to fish would with inline spinner like Mepps or rooster tails. I like them in the 1/8 or 1/6 sizes. Can catch almost
All of the species of fish in the harpeth with these.

Nothing wrong at all with bringing worms, keep them cool and in the shade! Mepp's and grubs are great too!

I would suggest some small beetle spins...They a little less likely to get hung up and interupt an otherwise relaxing float. Smallmouth, bluegill, and crappy could be expected.

Since you're a member search back through the threads on Trout Magnets. Put some 2 lb line on a rod or two and get some Trout Magnets. I will put them up against live bait any day. They will catch bream, crappie, smallmouth, largemouth, catfish and even carp. No mess. You can fish it will just a slow steady crank back or under a float.
