David do you have a section of the lake in mind? Paris Landing has a fishing pier and you can walk the rip rap along the causeway to the bridge. There can be some crappie caught in Mousetail State Park too. There is a fishing pier inside the park. I think you can ease along the shoreline there too. There is some brush and stake beds you can cast too as well as downed trees. Mousetail is west of Columbia just off highway 412. Paris is north of there about 50 miles on rt.79. If I pull my lake maps maybe something else will come to mind. There is a bridge in New Johnsonville and Pebble Marina. That would be worth taking a look too. Birdsong has been a good spot for crappie for decades. there is a causeway over the creek that use to have brush and stake beds along it. there is a deep hole under the bridge that will hold crappie while staging and sometimes in cold snaps. Birdsong is on the west side of the river a few miles south of I-40. Oh, Mousetail has some backwater that can hold crappie too. Right beside the Pumphouse and behind it. you can try calling some marinas on the lake to see if they will let you fish from them. You might call Beaver Dam Marina. I have seen a few people fishing there. Hope I helped, Alan

I met my fishing buddy yesterday in Camden. Hauled his boat to the lake and we had a limit of crappie....60 and back at the ramp and the boat on the trailer at 1:30 pm. I'll try to post a pic that I took on my phone tomorrow. they were on fire yesterday and probably today. But I was in Georgia or traveling all day today. I hope to get back out in a week or so.

Here is a pic of a double limit that my fishing pard and I caught Tuesday. We srarted at daylight and was back on the trailer by 1:30. A lucky day for us. this is the best we have dome in several years. Total of 60 crappie the average was 11 inches to 13 inches. 10 females and the rest were males. They are making their move shallow to spawn. The eggs were almost ripe and one was ready to lay.
