Default Pickwick 4-5-2013

Made the drive to Pickwick to try for some deep water Gills. Well did not get the first Gill but got into a bunch of 12 inch Smallies. Caught about 30 of them and all of them were at the 12 inch mark...some a little under and some a little over. Thought I might get into some larger but that did not happen. Not a single one of the fish today jumped. I found that odd but I guess the water is still a little cold. All fish were caught on a Bison colored Trout Magnet using my UL rod....a lot of fun. Probably a lot more fun than if I had gotten into some 9 inch Gills. For those wanting to know no one was catching any White Bass below dam. No one was catching much of anything. A lot were fishing for Skipjack but they were not being caught either. Will hit the trail again next week. The knee did really well. It just gets better each day.

Regards

Nice job getting out and stretchin a line.

I think I am going to buy a Mini Kit next time in Bass Pro. Seen them for the first time today and since there is an open spot about that size in my vest might as well fill it.

Boy they are small!

I've never really tried them. It is all I can do to see the 2# test to get it through a TM jig head. Can't see to put the line through a mini at all...LOL. But I have people tell me they catch fish on them....but boy they are small.

They will be a fly rod only lure. Its not small in those terms I have used some midges smaller than that quite successfully on the Caney in summer.

These are typical summer midge sizes...

OMG how do you tie those on? I wear bifocals and I'm pretty sure I'd need a magnifying glass on top of that...
