Headed out to Blue Cat Lake after visit with doc....knee is coming along fine. Fished for a solid hour and did not get a hit. Then the action started. Caught around 30 crappie all like the ones in the pic....good shoulders....all at 11 inches. Notice in the pics one is full of eggs. About half appeared to have eggs. Caught 7 Shell Cracker at 10 inches each. Caught a few 12 inch large mouth. I knew sooner or later I would hook into a hybrid. Small by hybrid standards....only 16 inches....but on UL gear was quite a battle. The crappie are in about 7 feet of water holding at about 5 feet on a change in bottom.....drop offs....even though it is a slight drop off. Water temp is back to 54 degrees...water is still what I would call clear. Had a fun day....feels good to be getting back out again.

Regards

You probably saw my dad. He's sitting on the bank fighting the wind. Said all he has so far was a bluegill.

He must have been away from the dam. There was no one I saw except over toward the boat dock.....and while I knew some people were over there I can't see too good that far away.

I knew better I should have gone to BC. Instead went to Shellcracker. Fished every depth possible for the crappie from the dock and the rocks. Nothing. Bass went nuts at times though just had to be patient. The dozen or so I caught were all in 10 minute spurts. Most were over 16 a few were about 19. Fun to catch. Talked to some regulars they had trouble finding the crappie in there too. I usually have as much or more luck from the banks as I do when bring my trolling motor out there, but next time I believe I'll give that another shot, more than likely in Blue Cat.

Wait until that water gets to about 58 degrees and you will have to fight to keep the crappie off your line. Both lakes have an over abundance of crappie. Seems some folks think that Shell Cracker has no keeper size crappie......not true.....they are there and lots of them. If you see me out there say hello.....I will be the one fishing with a Bison colored Trout Magnet....LOL. when it gets a little warmer will be in a kayak
