Default Crappie I caught 3/20

The big on is just over 13 inches, and the other two are 10.5 inches.I also caught 4 medium sized yellow bass. I caught all of these on a bobby garland baby shad on blue thunder color. I used a one-thirty second ounce unpainted jighead. Does anyone else use the bobby garland baby shad? Also, when would the crappie be spawning on percy priest lake?

Nice Catch Lil Man......Usually on Priest when the water temps are 55*-58*+ all over the lake they move shallow and start doing their thing...it was getting close a few days ago, but with this cold snap we maybe looking at @10 days to a couple weeks if the air temps get up and stays there.....

Great fish there, creekcrappie. I also like Bobby Garland's lures and use a lot of different ones. I'm partial to the Stroll'r in silver w/red flake.

How deep are they when they spawn? Do they like to be around brush? Thanks

tcintn told me that you use bison trout magnets to fish for crappie. Have you caught them with it anytime lately?

Yeah....caught a bunch Saturday at the Williamsport Lakes in Columbia. Haven't been able to go to my regular crappie spots as I am trying to recover from knee replacement. You should start catching more at Percy. The crappie can spawn in as little as a foot of water...and can and do spawn in the rocks....as well as shallow bays. Hope that helps you some.

Regards

Great catch Creekcrappie!! When the air and water starts to warm up, and we have some consecutive days of strong south winds, fish the wind blown shorelines and this time year you can sometimes find all kinds of fish! Including some whoppers!!

Great catch creekcrappie!

I noticed you were asking about bank areas in another thread. The lake water is still cool so you want to really watch where you step so that you don't fall in. All it takes for Hypothermia is a 2-3 degree drop in body temp.

Great job! Maybe we could stretch some lines together some time. I have another fishing buddy about your age and he beats me like a drum every time I take him out. You'd have to promise to cut me some slack.
