Default Freedom to Fish Act - PARTICIPATE!

Your help is needed to keep the Freedom to Fish Act (H.R. 826) moving through the U.S. House of Representatives. Introduced by Kentucky Congressman Ed Whitfield, on February 26, 2013, this bill is the legal instrument by which we will retain our rights to fish the rivers below the 10 dams within the implied jurisdiction of the United States Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Nashville District. This bill transcends partisan politics. It focuses on our inherent rights to access the tail-waters below the dams in Kentucky and Tennessee, and stops the USACE from executing its plan to barricade the rivers to boating. This bill costs the U.S. taxpayers nothing.

To help H.R. 826 through the long process of becoming law, we all need to act. Contact your congressman, and encourage them to sign on as a co-sponsor to Congressman Whitfield. Ask your representative - regardless of party affiliation - to take this decisive step toward protecting our rights, and our economy, from an overreaching military.

It takes five minutes to call; ten minutes to write, your district Congressman. Below, is an example of a brief statement:

Dear Congressman _ _ _ _ _ _ _ ,

I have deep concerns regarding the Corps of Engineers plan to barricade the rivers below our dams. If that plan is put in place, it will end generations of outdoor recreation, cause damage to our economy, and allow the military to act independent of civilian oversight. Please demonstrate your support for our district. Don’t wait for a “Dear Colleague” letter - join Congressman Ed Whitfield as a cosponsor of H.R. 826, the Freedom to Fish Act.

Congressmen Stephen Fincher and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee; and Congressman Andy Barr of Kentucky have already signed on as H.R. 826 cosponsors. If they are your representatives, please, call or write to thank them for their efforts. It matters... If your representative has yet to sign on to H.R. 826, you should be asking them pointedly and directly to do so.

If you choose to email your Congressman, go to www.house.gov. In the upper right of the House of Representatives home page, locate the dialog box, “Find Your Representative”, and enter your Zip Code. You will be redirected to your specific representatives’ home page. Follow the email prompts to the message center. It’s that easy...

If you choose to deliver your message by phone, your representative will have phone numbers listed on their web site home page, for local and Washington D.C. offices. For more immediate action, listed below are the Washington D.C. office phone numbers for all Kentucky and Tennessee Congressmen. All House of Representatives office phones are within Area Code 202, with the prefix of 225. The last 4 digits of the Representatives’ phone numbers are as follows:

Kentucky:
Andy Barr, 4706 [H.R. 826 Cosponsor]
Brett Guthrie, 3507
Thomas Massie, 3465
Hal Rogers, 4601
John Yarmuth, 5401

Tennessee:
Diane Black, 4231
Marsha Blackburn, 2811 [H.R. 826 Cosponsor]
John Duncan, 6440
Jim Cooper, 4311
Phil Roe, 6356
Chuck Fleischmann, 3271
Stephen Fincher, 4714 [H.R. 826 Cosponsor]
Scott Dejarlais, 6831
Steve Cohen, 3265

Feel free to copy and paste this document, and distribute it through your email. Or, print it and deliver to all who share our concerns, and will incite others to action
