Default Williamsport 3-19-2013

Felt really good after PT today and headed to Bluecat. Got into the crappie and Shell Crackers. No these are not the crappie I am used to but here is the exciting part. All of these are Black Nose...and they have grown since last year. A couple of crappie in the basket are over a pound and some are close to a pound and a half. All of them were over 11 inches. Last year I thought there were so many in the lake that they would always be stunted. But this year they have shoulders on them. Williamsport could become a crappie destination lake in 2 years. I don't know how it will turn out but I do know there are thousands in the lake. I gave these to a gentleman out there but next time I will take my cooler. They are worth keeping. Soon as the guy had his 15 off he went. I continued to fish but put on a tungsten head and was dragging the rocks hoping to find the Shell Crackers....and I did. Caught 10 of them all at the 10 inch mark....which if you're using a UL rig with 2# test will make the drag scream. Caught a bunch of 6 inch Gills....not pic worthy. Caught around a dozen 12 to 13 inch largemouth while jigging for the Shell Crackers. All fish were caught on a Bison Trout Magnet. The crappie were caught using a TM jig head and a size B split shot. Headed to Nickajack next week....you ready Ed? It feels good to be back fishing! Life is good!

Regards

Nice job Alpha.

I have yet to twitch my crappie hole yet. So much fun watching the float dive.

Oh yeah....I have to remember to put my rod spooled up with mono in the car. I wanted to fish under the float today but it won't stay in place with NanoFil. There were times this afternoon with the wind it would have been great.
