Default Had some fun at Pickwick

We brought home 19 blues and channels, 1 white bass and we culled a 28.2 pound blue my wife caught because we already had our 3 over 36" in the boat, can't beat that.

Does a 60 pound blue taste good? Nice catches.

Yea, you have to take a little more time trimming the fat and red meat off the fillets but other than that it is just as good as a 5 pound one.

Just like striper and bass, big fish like that don't come everyday. I don't keep any catfish over 10-15lbs cause I like to let em go and let em grow so hopefully I can help add to a trophy fishery for catfish. There's no limit under 34" so you should be able to catch plenty to eat without killing the trophies. Catfish aren't trash fish. They're a blast to catch and delicious to eat, but keeping trophies is a tragedy for sure.

Thats your opinion and I respect that and personally I agree but if the man that owns the boat and drives me up there wants to keep them then so be it.

To some people, it's all about getting attention as in "hey, look what I did/caught!" Personally, I find it kinda disgusting that people would keep that many big fish. I really don't care if this post is censored or deleted, I'm stating my feelings right up front.

chaseasel, if you think you have impressed anyone on FishinTn.com....favorably....you are sadly mistaken. Most of us believe in catching what we want/need to eat and letting the BIG ONES go.

What you have done by posting what you have, is turning most of us SPORTSMEN AGAINST YOU!

So, having said that, and meaning every word of it, (I wouldn't let you or the grinny one in my boat), if TK decides I've overstepped the boundaries of good sportsmanship, and deletes my comments or my inclusion in this website.....so be it. I just feel your post is in poor taste and wanted to let you personally know that.

I agree that's a little excessive. I'm usually the one pissing people off with talking about keeping fish so this may surprise some people but there is no need to keep that many trophy cats.

Personally, I've eaten large bass and you can believe the first time I catch a 24+" brown trout from the Caney, it's going home with me. If I needed a bass and I caught a 7 pounder, yea it's going in the cooler. However, if I caught a bunch of 5-10 lb bass one day (man that would be fun!), I'd keep one and let the rest go. I'm not near as conservationist as the majority of the people on this forum because I view fishing not only as a great hobby and sport but also as an age old tactic for humans to gather food, but I wouldn't have kept that many trophy fish.

What's done is done but master_cat brought up a good point. A fish that big, especially catfish, is going to be full of contaminants. That same reason is why I know guys who are fantastic striper fishermen and catch 20-30 pounders on the regular but won't eat them. They'll eat the 5 pounders instead. Fish that big, especially fish higher on the food chain like stripers and catfish, get most of the contaminants.

Great fish!

As far as you keeping fish by now you can tell its a sore subject around here. And honestly gets brought up too much. Im pretty much C&R but as long as your within legal regulations keep whatever you want.
