Crappie or bass?

Crappie-jigs and/or minnows around the stake beds should do the trick. There is a map of all the beds the TWRA put out on its website.

Bass- minnow crankbaits like shad raps or jerkbaits on rock banks near the channel swings. Better to find banks in those areas where there are more than one size of rock present (big to small). Ofcourse a jig/craw will probably work anytime.

We are gonna target bass. Do you know if they have moved somewhat shallow yet?

This time of year you can find them shallow. After a certain point in winter they move up because the water deep isn't beneficial any more and use shallow water in the sun to warm themselves. Some will be deep all winter but late winter there are always shallow fish to be caught as the sun gets up.

Fished there yesterday, I would recommend going up lake to at least Fate Sanders. Water temps there are 5 degrees better than downlake around Long Hunter. Good luck, fish slow.

There are plenty of bass shallow right now. They have been for a while. Ill second the jerkbait, shad rap, jig recommendation. I'd also throw a shaky head in there.
