Default 3/14 Trout Magnet Fishing

Went today around lunch time and after trolling a little while with no hits decided to move over to an area with stick-ups. Almost immediately got bit with a white/chart trout mag under a float. Today I was throwing them on a fly rod and boy it was fun minus fighting the wind (left my anchor at home).

Ended up catching 8 gills and three crappie one being short and released right after being caught. Fished for 1.5 hours, snapped a photo then let them all go. Not sure what the big crappie was because it's tail fin completely hung over the crappie measuring contraption and the smaller on was just a little above my 10" mark.

Only things that were a negative today came when my little one threw a couple lures overboard and eventually my net. LOL...

I rared back the other day with a 7' carrot stick for a long cast and hung my net sending it 20 feet into the water. Ended up having to cut the net to get the trebels out. " Cheap Net "

I did that once below the OH Dam but instead of hooking my net I hooked one of my curado's sending that setup into the river.

It didn't shocked me to lose a net. I have lost/tore up so many like holding my trout net between my knees releasing a fish then forgetting it was there, hanging that ones replacement in a briar thicket causing the magnet to release with me knowing it and the Caney's browns have destroyed at least three of my big boat nets. Guess I am a just meant to land fish by hand...

Don't feel bad. Most of my fishing outings make Bill Dance's fishing blooper reels look tame in comparison.

My favorite memory: I was in Korea, fishing with my waders on and was standing in about 2, 2 1/2 feet of water. I had just thrown a Senko out and I wanted a smoke so I stuck the handle of the rod between my thighs so I could light the cigarette (you know what's coming next, right?). Just as I was lighting that cigarette, a bass grabbed that Senko and yanked the rod out from between my legs. There I was, chasing after my rod, tripping and falling in the water. Lost the rod, got totally soaked and the only good part of that was that there was no one around to see it all or that episode would have been on YouTube 30 seconds after it happened.

I got a million of them!

Luckily, I have a couple hanging in the garage for spares. LOL....

I could have caught a bunch more it took me until right before having to leave to figure out which stick up the crappie were behind. All around the others the magnet would fall and get hit by bluegill but only one side of a single stick had the crappie. Crazy, but at least the guess work's done if I go tomorrow.
