Sarasota, Florida 1/19-1/22
Last week, I was down in Longboat Key, FL. We were visiting my mother-in-laws. I got to do a little fishing and my buddy took my out on a boat one of the days. It was a strong north wind and temps were in the lower 60's which put the fish on a bad case of lock jaw. But if we soaked live shrimp under docks where we knew fish were, we would eventually get bites, it usually took atleast 10-15 minutes of soaking the shrimp in the same spot, then your line would just slowly pull away. But we manages a few snook, sheepshead and a few redfish. Check out the teeth on that sheepshead! For eating barnacles!

Awesome pictures man!! Makes me really miss that kind of fishing when I lived down there. I'll take a redfish anyday over anything that swims in TN waters.

Great pics as usual Mike. Great looking fish! We used to catch a lot of sheepshead when I worked in Saudi......but we called them "Sergeant Major".....because of all the stripes.
Regards

Great pics. I hope Santa brings me one of those next year! I love that saltwater bite. Headed down to Destin in July and will hook up with my buddy for some Pensacola bridge kayak fishing. Glow in the dark flukes at night = big redfish.

That's a cool picture. Were you able to find them "tailing" on the flats? That's not as common during the colder months. I loved fishing for them like that because it was like hunting and fishing combined. Spot the tailing redfish, sneak up on them slowly using the pushpole, cast accurately... and hold on!

No, didn't see them tailing, but the weekend before I got there, they were tailing like crazy I hear.

Fun it was, but as far as the fishing, it was by far the toughest I have ever experienced in that area. Usually several reds and a few dozen sea trout is common to catch.
