trolling motor release on Minnkota

The spring that helps the lever go up and down automatically, came off. So I put it on(the wrong way) now I have to reach down and lock it in. Does someone know how the spring release goes on properly?? In the pic you can see it, the screw is holding it in. A picture would be great if possible???
