Peacock Bass were introduced into south Florida canals in the late 80's and just they took off. In the late 90's fishing for them was becoming a big thing down there and I caught several. It became my new target everytime I went fishing. I'd cruise down the bank of the canals looking for them and cast rapalas with a very fast and twitchy retrieve. These are very aggressive fish and that's how they are caught. The biggest one I caught was about 4 lbs, not quite as big as the one in that picture, that's a beauty! These fish are so much fun to catch, VERY strong fighters. I've always wanted to take a trip to their native waters in south America and catch them. Maybe one day...
