Arrived at Pickwick at around 8:30 AM. Started throwing the tungsten jig with Trout Magnet body. They were pulling the lake down so fast I had to cast 50 feet to left of my fish zone and had to count down 50 seconds as jig was moving to my right almost as fast as it was dropping in depth. Needless to say I lost a few of those jig heads today. But it turned out to be a great day on the water. I caught around 50 Gills with 30 being at the 9 inch mark. It was a little cloudy when I arrived and about 11:00 AM it started to get really cloudy and a cool wind came up....thought it was going to rain but stayed dry. It was during this little mini front that I started catching a mixed bag of fish. I caught 8 Smallies with the biggest being a 15 inch fish.....the others were 12 and 13 inch fish. I hooked into 5 Spots....all around 12 inches. I also caught 4 Large Mouth all around 17 inches. Caught a dozen Whites with the biggest being an 18 inch fish......the others were at 15 inches. Those Whites are tough to get in on 3# test line. My drag was screaming with the Smallies...Whites and the Large Mouth. Will take tomorrow off and spool up a reel with 1# test NanoFil that came today. Can't wait to see how far I can cast a micro jig with it. The line is .001 diameter.......hope I can see to tie it.....LOL. As usual off of that point on the lake the Bison colored Trout Magnet was the color of choice.

I caught a few 6 inch Gills today that were almost 2 inches across the belly. I should have taken some pics of those. They were really fat....looked funny. Don't know what they are eating but it agrees with them.

Nice white bass. Do you eat those? I love them, I'd sure like to get into a bunch of 15" ones like you did. I bet that was fun on that light line as well.

Seems like that bison colored TM catches everything huh? I only have them in white, pink, and chartreuse. I'm due for a purchase to buy some more and I'll definitely have to get that color. I wish Cabelas would stock them!

That is funny right there Alpha!!!!, nice job man!! just like Nomad said, it is my morning stop to read your posts and look at the pics, nice fish all of them!!, I hope my Trout and Crappie magnets come in today or tomorrow to give them a try at Normandy this weekend but it seems like i can't bring myself to fish with line less than 4 lbs, is that too big of a difference than fish with 2 lbs??

Thanks guys. Going to true UL fishing is quite a transition. While I am a big believer in my Trout Magnets you will catch more fish when you use any good micro lures...jigs. It took me a while to get used to the 2# test. I wanted to give up on it....but I was catching lots of fish. Yes there is that much difference in using 2# test over 4# test. If you have a decent reel it will just take you time to figure out proper drag adjustment. I cut my teeth with UL fishing on big White Bass....I was breaking off so many fish. Once I learned to properly set my drag I haven't looked back. Many on this forum that use the Trout Magnet will tell you that 2# test makes a big difference. I am spooling up some 1# test now.

Well, if it makes that much of a difference i guess i will have to make the cross to the UL side!!, I do have a couple of decent reels (I think) that may serve me well for this purpose, it will be a matter of learning how to properly set the drag, thanks for the info Alpha!!
