Default Center Hill 9-15-2012

Myself and browntrout went out on Center Hill to try and get some Smallies. We were in his new River Hawk and while we had fun we only caught 2 fish. I had a nice Spot and he caught a good Smallie. Our plan was to hopefully fish the Caney if they were generating but when the schedule came out we knew that wasn't going to happen so went to plan B. Decided to go to the Hill because the Corp web page listed the temps on the lake at 73 on surface and 71 at 10 feet. We fished a pretty large area and the temps were 80 and 81 degrees. I don't know where the Corp takes their temp readings but it certainly was not even close to the temps out on the main body of the lake. The shad were in very small groups and there was hardly any surface action observed. We also couldn't find any Gills.....Gills worth catching that is. We will go back when the water cools some.....which I hope is in the next 3 weeks. I think we saw at the most two bass boats on the lake...and no bank fisherman at all. It was a beautiful day and thought there would be lots more folks on the lake....maybe they knew something we didn't.....LOL.

Regards
