Arrived and started fishing at 6:30 AM. I only made a few cast with the Trout Magnet looking for Crappie. The Large Mouth were feeding like crazy and they were hitting my Trout Magnet. Of all the specie I fish for Large Mouth are the most difficult fish to fight on 2# test line. So went back to the car and got my bass rod. For the next two hours I either caught a bass or would have one or more hits on my retrieve. I was using a Kastmaster spoon with a dressed single hook. My retrieve was fast...trying to keep the Kastmaster on top of the water. It was foggy and as soon as the fog lifted the bass action was over where I was fishing. Most of the bass were in the two pound range with the occasional one that would hit 3 pounds. Only took two pics as I knew that feeding frenzy could stop at anytime...I wanted to catch as many as I could. The bass are on a tear down there. I cruised around in the millfoil and spooked many big bass and they were feeding all over in that stuff. I don't have any gear to handle fishing in those kind of weeds. I was told that bass boats don't go in there too far in the Summer...I can see why. Caught only 4 crappie...each of them 14 inches.....but hey, that is a ncie 8 filets...LOL. It is too early....maybe about 3 weeks more. The local Crappie Guru...Jamie.....saw my car and drove down the road next to the lake to catch up with me just to chat. He told me not to expect any limits where we fish for about 3 more weeks....then it will be all you want to catch. Caught quite a few small Shell Crackers on the Trout Magnet. While being small for a Shell Cracker sure were lots of fun. The water was 84 degrees out in the main lake.....confirmed that with the only two bass boats I saw there. The water was clear. The Malone Trailer pulled great at 70 MPH. No swaying at all and really helps my gas mileage from car topping the kayak. Even though the crappie are not quite ready there I may go back several more times to get in on some more bass action.

Appreciate the report,
I can see where the kayak has a huge advantage in those waters. Nice looking crappie, they're thicker down there vs OH crappie. Wonder if tightlining with a 12 foot pole like at reelfoot in the holes in the weeds would be effective, both for crappie and gills?
Told my wife last night we're starting to get into my favorite time of the year, fishing time is going to be pickin up....... down side to that is she goes shopping while I'm fishing

Thanks for the report Mr Alpha, looks like you had fun as ussual, i was also thinking about tightlining on the holes or the very edge of them for Crappies and gills, I guess game fish will be putting on the feed bag pretty soon if they haven't started yet!!
