Default Laurel Hill 8-09-2012

Put the kayak in this morning trying to beat the storms.....which never came down there. Got back into the big Gills again....thank God. Caught 40 in the 8 and 9 inch range. Got into some chunky Shell Crackers only about 6 inches long but they fought good. Also got into the Catfish again! I mean I would have to move away from an area where they were at...they were that plentiful and aggressive. All of them were at 15 inches...keepers....but I did not want them. All my fish were caught on a Bison colored Trout Magnet using 2# test line. You can't tell from the pic but I was fishing near the road that goes down to Galloway Hollow at the lake. A TWRA technician was driving a mower down the road and stopped to talk with me. I introduced him to the Trout Magnet a couple of years back. He told me I should be casting on the line that my kayak was sitting on. He told me he had found them fishing earlier in the week and that is the distance they were out from the bank...in 7 to 10 feet of water. I thanked him and moved the boat out and started to cast in the area he told me to...my catch rate shot up. This is one of the many things that is good about fishing.....I might have found that line the fish were stacked up on but with his help I found it right away....much thanks to him. The Catfish are tearing it up at Laurel Hill. The water quality is good...but still very hot.

Regards

Nice going once again. It looks like the temps may be starting to go down a bit so that's good news...if it holds up, that is. Kind of funny (and not to derail your thread)...originally, I wanted to buy a house down in the panhandle of Florida so we could eventually retire there but my wife (aka she-who-must-be-obeyed), bless her heart, said no because it was too hot for her the 4 years I was stationed at Eglin AFB. I can say with certainty that this summer here in Clarksville has been hotter than any of the 4 we spent in Ft Walton Beach LOL
