Default Luck?

It's been slow fishing for stripers below OH dam. Caught a 12 lb flathead on a swimbait last night against the lock wall in front of the gates.

It has been the worst one and a half months of fishing I have had in memory. Went to Pickwick yesterday and caught only a few Gills. The water was flowing good....60,000 CFS...since Sunday for about 5 hours a day. Maybe I hit it on a bad day but the bait was there by the 10's of thousands but no fish below the dam...at least not for me. One of the reasons I make that drive is because I can usually get into something...and in numbers too. It has been the same at Laurel Hill and VFW. Yes some are catching fish...but it is not great. My understanding that due to lack of current flow at Nickajack grass is all over the place and no one is catching anything. But I will hit it all again next week and try again. If nothing else will go to the Caney and catch some Brookies.

Regards

I have been having a lot of success in the creeks. Catching a bunch of smallies, largemouth, rock bass and bream.

The last few times out to Old Hickory was a struggle and a couple ponds the same.

Creeks though have fished well this year.

I've been having a blast this month catching smallies and stripers, with a few nice largemouth thrown in. The common factor has been going at night, though, and I am not fishing near the bank. You'll have to look for fish, but it has been worth the effort. I have a 26 & 22 lb striper, several in the 15-24" range, several 16-19" smallies, and my best largemouth has been 4.5 lbs.

Default Below OH dam

Went below the dam at 5:00 this morning with jad2t. We fished swimbaits for four hours with no stripers caught. Saw one caught, heard about another one. 8 boats fished the dam area and none had any fish.

We fished the Cumberland river yesterday from 0530 till almost noon; started out where the Red River meets the Cumberland and fished various sections all the way to Yellow Creek and back. It was tough going and we only caught one keeper LM, the rest were dinks (spots and LM).
