Default Old Hickory Dam

Have fished the dam a few times in the last week and had a few nice surprises! These 2 fish were caught on artificials right up be the gates. Managed 4 total flatheads the one night, the other 3 were around 4-6 pounds i would guess. The big flat bottomed out a 25 pound scale pretty quickly, probably around 30 pounds. The smallie was 21 1/4 inches! Love the unexpected catches of big fish! By the way, i have been doing quite well lately fishing and I owe it all to my beard!! Its my lucky fishing beard and it stays until fishing slows down! My wife is not too happy

Great catches! I love fishing the dam in the summer, never know what you will catch next.

Man, that is nice looking smallie.

Fishing the river is a blast and that is very true about never knowing what you'll catch. I seen on another forum where someone was fishing down by Manskers mouth and caught a couple bowfin around 3-5 pounds.

What MN isn't mentioning are the GREAT BOATSMEN, Ahem!, who are putting him in position to catch and net these fish for him! Seeing as how he caught a striper on his first cast, (5 lb), another on his 2nd cast (10lb), another on his 5th cast, (13 lb) and then three catfish from 7-30 lbs in the next half hour, it is obviously how the driver is positioning the boat!

You are right, I should have mentioned that....but you still have to have accurate casts, present your bait right, put hooks in the fish, and then successfully land them! HAHA! I appreciate all the boaters who have taken me fishing! I am very blessed! Since I was once a boat owner and now am not. It hurts! So a big THANKS goes out!
