Default Old Hickory LM Bass 5/29

Bass tournament tonight from 5:30-8:30. I haven't fished it in a while, but my old partner (who still fishes it consistently) called and asked if I would fish it with him. Slowly but steadily I managed to get our limit... 5 fish. They were dinks... but they measured. My partner (I hope you see this) managed to put zero keepers in. Top 5 places paid.... we got 6th. Winner was 13 pounds. 5th place was 8.70 pounds, and we had 8.54. It was very fun however. To those interested, fish were caught shallow on the edge of grass beds on 7 inch worm. We knew the bigger fish were deep but the storm and wind kept us off our deep brush piles, and we were catching fish shallow they were just mostly short. I am PRO at one spot out of the money, and now I remember why I quit taking tournaments seriously!

Sounds like fun. Was it the nighter out of Old Hickory side?

It looked like it was going to storm pretty good but passed over quick.

No its out of Sander's Ferry Park in Hendersonville every Tuesday night. There were around 35 boats this week, but the numbers will start dropping as the heat rises. I would say from here on out 5 keepers = paycheck, last night was the first time I have ever weighed 5 fish in there and didn't place. It didn't help that we couldn't catch a kicker. The storm turned the fish on and pushed them up shallow right at dark. Everyone said they caught their fish from 7:30-8:15. Winner said Big Fish came on last cast. We caught over 10 13-3/4" fish, I was starting to think we weren't going to get a limit due to the 1/4" short fish!

We had the same result a week or two ago in shallow water with green pumpkin salamanders (right before dark). Though the biggest we caught was 2.75 lbs.
