Default Marrowbone Lake Carp

Went to Marrowbone yesterday and paddled around the shallows spooking up carp. Sound is bad, but video looks fine. Filmed with a Swann Freestyle HD.

Not sure if those are commons or grass carp - can't see them well enough. I know Marrowbone does have some big grass carp.

Next time you need to take a flyrod up on those flats and try to catch one instead of just spooking them - I imagine a double-digit weight carp would tow your kayak around for a good long time.

Hi Greasy,

I go to Marrowbone all the time. The first time I spooked those carp, my heart jumped right up into my throat.

Such a beautiful lake but, dang -- it's really hard to get a bite from bass. You'll get plenty of action from sunfish and cats (and maybe some trout), but other than that it's mostly a scenic tour. I would love to canvas that lake with electronics.

I may take my Coosa out to Marrowbone this afternoon around 5 pm, after a baby shower (sigh...men are attending these now).

Nice. How do you have your camera mounted?

Originally I was gonna buy a camera mount designed for it, but 60 bucks seemed to be too much for something so simple. So I designed my own.
I already had a Scotty stern light. The actual light just slides out of the rubber tube on top of the mount. So I took out the light and made a trip to home depot with the tube in hand.
I found some halex 3/4 inch connectors for less than 5 bucks and they fit in the tube perfectly snug. On top of that I put a light switch box and a switch box cover. The camera came with a bunch of mounts for flat surfaces so I just mounted the camera to the cover.
I think I'm gonna drill a 3/4 inch hole in the light switch cover and then use that hole to attach the halex. That way I can get rid of the box altogether.
That sounds like a bunch and the picture will show how simple the whole design actually is.

Light Holder

Switch box, cover, and camera mount

That was a cool link. Looks like a real good size carp. I ended up watching the Peoria Carp Hunters video there as well. It is a crazy funny video, but really that has to be a very serious problem.
