might be a dumb question
ok i have a 14ft john boat. when i fish in lakes and throw my anchor out i would be sitting still for a little bit. But out of nowhere i start turning all kinds of directions even if i am facing towards the wind. Is there anyway i can sit still? or do i just have to deal with it?
Thanks

Do you have a motor and if so is it down? You need something to act as a rear rudder. But regardless without a rear anchor, yes you will blow around with the front anchor point acting as a fulcrum.

use a second anchor one in the front one in the back if no money to buy one make your own take pvc witth a eye bolt. Pour concrete in it put the eyeboat through the top and you are good to go

Jason, you are 21 years old ... What boating license are you referring to ?? If you are talking about your boat registration with the TWRA numbers ... it is the same as the electric trolling motor .... Any propulsion other than paddle requires a TWRA reg Number (up to date) <'TK><

They have a law (don't know how long its been around now) that requires people born after Jan 1, 1989 to pass a written test similiar to that for drivers ed but for boats. Anyone can start taking at age 11 and it's required unless you have an adult who can take control with you in the boat.

I could be wrong, but i think it doesn't matter if an adult is with you or not. I'm pretty sure no matter what after a certain year you have to have the license whether an adult is with you or not. If I'm wrong that's still the story I'm sticking with for my step daughter. I let her drive one night and i said you're to close to the shore turn turn turn! She didn't listen and gave my propeller a good shaving.

The law is intended mainly for when they are solo in a boat.
"Any Tennessee resident born after January 1, 1989 must show the TWRA-issued wallet Boating Safety Education Certificate as proof of successful completion of the TWRA Boating Safety exam.
No other certificate will be accepted as meeting the requirements of the law.
If there is an adult on board (at least 18 years old, and if born after 1/1/89 possesses the certification) that can take immediate control of the vessel this certificate is not required."

Thanks guys ... <'TK><
I do kinda remember this coming about years back and I think it was mainly brought about by an increase in Jet ski accidents driven by juveniles .. Which is a good idea and should include some jet ski drivers who was born in 1949 !!! <'TK><
