Default sauger and walleye killing it last two weeks!

Cumberland river is hot right now for sauger and walleye. For the Cordell Hull dam down to the old Rome ferry dock. Y'all should give it a try.

For the walleye, are you fishing in the boils below the dam or farther down? Where is the best place to launch a boat below Cordell Hull. I have to ask since I've never been there. Are people still doing the heavy jig, bottom bouncing?

For fishing below Cordell Hull there is a boat ramp in Carthage, as soon as you go over the river coming from I-40, take a left, then another left. There is a little ramp there. They can be caught from the boils on down.

I had been reading about some of the lakes and rivers that have eyes in them but it didnt sound like too many people targeted them.

I read an artice in Tennessee Sportsman this afternoon with a few basic tips. Back up in MI I fish them a lot we troll bottom bouncers with crawler harnesses, troll crank baits, and jig for them. In the rivers we jigged for them most of the time. Season closed up there at the end of March for spawning.

Is there any prefered methods down in TN that work better than others?

I got on Google Earth and found a big ramp and parking lot just below the dam on the Carthage side of the river. At the junction of 263 and dam road, go east for about 3/4 mile and on the right is a turn in to a big parking lot for boats and the ramp to the river.

The ramp is 3/4 mile below the dam. Putting in at Carthage by the bridge is almost 5 miles below the dam. Si it depends which way a person wants to get there, by water or by land. My boat is a gas hog so I'd rather put in closer to the dam.

I live in Goodlettsville, anybody want to go and share the gas? I've got the boat and all the equipment we'd need. Plenty of rods and jigs, crawler harnesses, downriggers, cast nets for shad if we want, aerated livewells for the fish and bait.

Shoot me an email at mervjohnson61@yahoo.com or text me at 615-635-3783. You can PM me here, but I'm not always on the computer but I almost always have my phone with me and I'll get emails and texts on it.

There are two ramps, one on each side of the dam and they are very steep!

I have several pictures on my phone but I don't know how to get them to come up here. I catch all my sauger within one mile either direction of the Carthage boat ramp. I don't fish the dam this time of year. I like to troll. If the weathers good I plan to go Friday morning if someone wants to go.
