4/9 OH Flatties
These two slugged it out with us pretty good today. Had a few other bites, some missed completely, others wrapped in trees. Had to keep my little helper busy today

What did you catch them on?? Live bait?? I went out Saturday and marked some decent fish in 20-30 feet of water but didn't have any skip jack or live bait as it was really just a test run for the boat . Got some more work to do as well as get my rod holders on my boat and I hope to get into some big cats!! How deep of water did you catch them in

Thanks. She is becoming pretty handy around the boat, steering the trolling motor, catching the bait in the tank, netting the fish, clearing lines, and I thought I needed a boy. These fish must be spawning, the picture doesn't do it full justice, but the 20# looked like it just swallowed a basketball

Caught them on live gizzard shad, in about 30' of water, at the mouth of a little slough. The slough is shallow and holds a good bunch of shad, but drops off deep right at the mouth.

I haven't been on old hickory much, does the current ever pick up much? The other day it seemed to be about 1mph. And I was up close to the 231 bridge

The current is stronger than it appears, especially if you consider the volume moving through. The current is more noticeable in the river sections, and less noticeable downstream in the wider places. But if you check the TVA generation page you will see that it varies widely. For instance, today it shows a flow of 15,500 CFS. For most of the winter it has been 35,000 or more, even reaching 60,000 and over after some of the bigger rains. With the channel being 50+' deep in a lot places, and winds making a surface current in the opposite direction of the river current, it can be hard to read what lies beneath. I always check the TVA page to get an idea of what the general trend is.

You also want to check how much Cordell Hull is pumping too. One may be pulling or pumping out more than the other and you can get somewhat of an idea of how the current will be.

The current has been strong up here towards cordell for a while now!! Im just curious if it ever gets that strong down toward Lebanon!! I have a tva app that shows cordell generation schedule but doesn't show old hickorys.
