Old hickory or priest ?
Trying to figure out this Sunday's gameplan and need a little help. I was leaning towards jpp or old hickory for bass and/or crappie. Has anyone had any luck on these lakes recently ? With this weather, I'm not sure how the fish are acting. I have some spots I like from previous years on old hick, and an area on priest, but I haven't been on either lake recently enough to get a bead on patterns this year. If I could get a report or two, it would go a long way and be very appreciated. Thanks.

Based on the Corps sites where the temps are measured the lakes are about the same.. 48-49 degrees as of this morning.
With the air temps upper 60's/low70's plus not as cold at night this week also two good days of wam rain on top of dingy water look for Old Hickory to jump temps wise in the creeks. Percy should go up as well since they don't have a big push of generation so the temps on the main body and creek should go up.
I"d bet Old Hickory will be upper 50's in the creeks by Saturday. The colder nights on the weekend my push them back out a bit but you should be able to catch some bass on main lake points, secondary points heading back in the creeks and depending on how warm first drops around mouths of pockets in the creeks.

I know it did not really answer your recent reports of which to go but I'd say both will fish a lot better this weekend that last.
Maybe someone who has been recently will post.

I was thinking the same thing, Travis. I will more than likely be on oh since I know it far better, especially the drakes creek area. My main concern is the wind. If it stays reasonable, I will venture out from the banks more, if not, I'll be stuck in more protected areas. I'll be using the big three lures, but may sling the TN-AL-whatever rig here and there, especially if temps break 52.

I think its showing in the teens but the direction should be blowing back into Drakes.
Wish I was out there with ya instead of playing ball or laying hardwood floors in the house.

I fished Priest earlier in the week and caught some Crappie in 18 to 22 feet. Used a white and blue Crappie Magnet. I was near Fate Sanders fishing structure on a drop.

HEY RONMAN!! That's my structure I put there last week! How'd it work?
I DID put some stuff out last week near Fate Sanders last week haven't been back to fish it. Had fish on it four hours after I put it out so I guess I done good. Hope EVERYBODY catches fish off it.
Tx, I was on JPP yesterday, fished that tree we talked about earlier. First cast caught a keepr crappie, then didn't get a bite for the next half hour so I moved about a half mile away and found a brushpile in 14 ft that was fairly productive.
The water temps were 53-54 degrees where I fished, outside Long Hunter launch.
Thinking about going there tomorrow because the weather is going to suck on Fri.
AND....black and chartreuse is THE absolute best for crappie on JPP. My buddy fishes almost exclusively b&c and outfishes me consistently because I like trying diff colors. he sticks with B&C and catches fish. If I switch to B&C then I'll catch fish.

I'm wondering where to go this weekend also. I picked up some drift schutes from Hook1 and then went to BPS and traded in 4 reels.

I was leaning towards oh, but jpp seems to have more reports. The winds will still be the determining factor. I can hide from it better on oh. I am going below center hill tonight, though. I will know more about Sunday later today.

Chris, I'm sending you a PM. If you wind up fishing the Drake's Creek area I may have you check something out for me.

Well it worked great the first of the week. But today not so much. Would you mind stocking some more keeper Crappies there for me?

Forget that - I would rather fish in the rain than in the wind. I hate wind.

Damn, Ronman, I just restocked it yesterday morning! Someone must have beat you to it and cleaned it out before you got there!
SIGH, I guess I'll just have to stock it again......after the storms blow through.
