State Records???

This site has pics of a possible 16.7 pound largemouth from Chickamaunga(sp) and a possible 6 pound crappie from Kentucky lake. Anybody heard anything about these??

That is a monster crappie.

Those records are out there and about time they got caught.

Well I already found out the crappie is not from Tennessee and did not weigh 6 pounds, it is a 4.5 pounder from Wisconsin, still haven't heard anything about the bass though.

Definitely, its got my personal best beat by 1.5 pounds, I'm more concerned about is the bass for real

Very tough to judge the weight of a bass from a photo, but it's a moose of a fish regardless.

I heard rumors about TWRA shocking up a potential record breaker - in Gibson County Lake I think?

With the exception of last year, our winters have been extremely mild for the last several years. As a result, it seems like we have had more threadfin shad than normal in the summers because they haven't been dying off as much.

Maybe the increase in forage has something to do with all the huge bass I've been seeing caught lately.

This was in the 14-15lb something class by Length, Girth formula. It will give you an eyeball test to the other fish. They look size wise similiar.

Of course you will see in this article the requirements of getting that state record and why he decided to release it. I would imagine the 16lber would have been more known if he tried to get a record submit out of it.

Heck, rsimms would have probably let us know about it given its location caught.

Still a pig though regardless.

BD, the one they shocked up was 16.14 out of Browns Creek Lake, there was also a 14.10 shocked up at Herb Parsons Lake about 8 or 9 years ago.

Does anyone know if these are true Northern Strain Largemouth or have Florida/California Strain been introduced into our fisheries?

I know they stocked Florida bass in Chickamauga at one point. Apparently they grow big but it turns out that they can be very difficult to catch. I don't know about the other lakes.

I think Browns Creek and Herb Parsons are strictly northern strain, Gibson County is the only lake I know of around here that was stocked with florida strain.
