Default Nickajack 10-21-11...Great Day!

Limited out at Nickajack today. When you are culling fish it is a great day. Had to find them first and then find what they wanted. My Crappie Magnets did not do anything for them...I went through every color I had with 1/32 and 1/8...no good. Tried my Trout Magnet in white at first. Going through the colors put on "Bison"...black & gold color. That was the ticket! The largest fish is 15 inches with 6 being at 14 inches and nothing under 12 inches. Going to hit it again Monday with my son. Now I have fish to clean....life is good.

Way to stick it out instead of packing up. Nice crappies as well.

I am going to check my crappie place this week and will report on the findings. Fortunately, for me my "freezer stocking" places are withing 15 min of the house but certain times of the year you can get them near the back others out of small craft.

Travis I assume you are fishing OH or Percy. Do those lakes produce 12 to 16 inch Crappie...filling up a stringer...on a regular basis? I have only fished Percy one time for Crappie and the ones I caught there...as a fisheries biologists explained to me...came from the perfect gene pool. How that came up was I showed him the fish and asked him what made those Crappie I caught there be almost as tall as they were long. I caught those down by the dam at Percy and the darn things looked like a plate. All of them were only about 12 inches but the girth was huge. I need to try that place again.

Regards

I rarely fish Percy anymore mainly because I have to drive over Old Hickory to get there. It's hard for me to do that regularly since I know how good Old Hick is.

Regulary that length maybe not Percy but we have a couple places (by boat) that you can fills up a freezer along the main channel bends.

Old Hickory you have better odds at that average size. There are some places on the lower end and up in one of the creeks mid lake (both by boat) that you can limit out in that size. A spot in the lower end has gave up fish around 2lbs or better every year.

However the places I am talking about are a couple local city lakes. One public and one private that I have family on which has these fish in it. They are about 9miles or less from the house and has big gills, crappie and bass in them. I'll try to get out and catch some this week then snap a few pics.
