duck river help

A group of friends and myself are doing a n overnight float ont he duck in shelbyville.Looking to feed ourselves from the river i will be fishing mostly while my partner mans the paddling.Ive had luck with tex rigged lizards but wanted some added input on baits of choice for this stretch of the duck.I would think this rain will clean things out and fishing will be good this weekend.

I'm thinking your putting in under the bridge. Ive fished there wading some time back and have hooked some nice fish. I used just what you mentioned, lizards.

I would also suggest watermelon creatures and 5" watermelon worms without the wiggley tails fished as slow as you can tolerate.

The Duck is a great river but it can be challenging on the wrong day. Maybe throw some weenies in your cooler. It can really get flowing after 5" of rain.

My best days were when the water was low and on warmer days. Let us know how it turns out.

If you aint catching your smallmouth on the lizards, put on a rooster tail or a small grub and catch you some redeye. They always are biting and taste better anyways.

I live in Columbia TN...less than a mile from the Duck. I don't think you will be on the river this coming weekend. I could be wrong but I don't think it will be fish-able this coming weekend.

I rented a Coosa on the Duck River a few weeks ago. It was beautiful ride, but I had little more than a few nibbles on my rubber worms. I assume they were bluegill.

I think the problem was fishing during the heat of the afternoon. Early morning or dusk would probably have been better, but as a renter I'm subject to the outfitter's schedule.

I hear the river is full of small mouth, which will ensure I give it another few chances!

Duck River is full of Small Mouth. May I ask where you rented a Coosa on the Duck?
