Default Memorial Day weekend

I just wanted to wish everyone a great Memorial Day weekend on the water and hope everyone stays safe! I won't get to go fishing as much as I'd like. Will be busying packing and getting everything ready for a vacation trip to Alaska next week!

My wife and I want to move there in a few years, so we're using a vacation as an excuse to check it out. We're going the southeast portion of Alaska. We're heading to Sitka, Juneau, Haines, and Skagway for the trip. We'll be hopping to each city by either ferry or bush plane and will be staying at a bed and breakfast at each location.

I REEEEAAALLLLY wanted to do some fishing while I am up there, especially for Halibut. But I'm not for two reasons... One there is so much other things scheduled on the trip that it was hard to find the time to squeeze in a fishing trip. Two is that they pretty much shoot the halibut when you bring it to boatside. Apparently a large, live one can do A LOT of damage to you and the interior of the boat I didn't want to deal with the hassel and cost of getting the fish home. I figured I'll be getting plenty of chances at 'em whenever we move. It should still be a trip with a lot of great memories anyways. I'll be sure to post some pics!

Thumbs up

Hey TNtransplant08. Went to those same cities in 2008. Eagles everywhere fishing on the coast. Fishing villages, snowcapped mountains, galicers. It was the most awesome adventure this ole country boy has ever been on. Went salmon fishing caught one and a lady who had never fishded in her life cautght a hugh one. Like you my wife and I have discussed moving there, but all the kids and family are here. Have a great trip.
