Default JPP Fishing the jumps

The white bass have turned on at Percy Priest. For the last two evenings, they start to blow up around 6 PM until dark. They seem to be moving around, but we found our schools just North of Hobson Pike Bridge. The bass are feeding on tiny shad, spitting up 3/4” fry on the deck of my boat. We had the best luck throwing small inline spinners on light action rods/4 lbs test. So much fun throwing in the middle of the blow-ups.

Sounds like fun but I'd be to chicken to try 4# test for fear of a good fish in mix

Most were in the 1-3 lb range, but yes, always a possibility for a monster. Luckily they were in 40-50 FOW so as long as the drag was set right, I think I’d have a fighting chance of landing it.

Sweet, 3 lb white bass is a good one, especially for Priest.

Bass are out deep schooled up. I am finding them in depths of 9 to 21 feet. First 2 cast on a hump yesterday in 18 feet of water, I had 2 bass on at once on a Rapala dt-20. After last summer I was for sure ready to find some schools.

Awesome. I have a buddy that got them in the jumps yesterday afternoon as well. Not sure what part of the lake he was on. He said there were some small rockfish in with them.

Yes, almost all were in the 1-2 lb range. My wife caught one much bigger (the 3 lb fish) but I didn’t stop to ID it. It could have been a hybrid/striper. I was too busy casting at the boils!
