Not good. I fished the lower end of old hick Friday, down around DuPont and the rip rap at the dam. Covered a lot of water, caught a lot of fish and had a great day. Actually had an idea of what to expect for tournament day.

Get on the water Saturday, stop at our first area and automatically notice that the lake was down about 3-4foot. We went in to station camp creek, started at the duck blind and fished waaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy on down that bank. Picked up a couple dinks and 2 that we’re 13” 15/16. So close to being a keeper. Lol. I lost a good one on a spinnerbait. 🤦 we move to cages bend area.....fish the mouth, with nothing and then we are fishing the back of the creek and I caught our one keeper of the day. 2.02 lbs. It was pure luck that I caught that fish. I made a bad cast and thought my squarebill had gotten hung up in a dead weed bed but it was that fish.

After I had thought about it and hearing some of the “dock talk” the fish had moved back out in the ditches and creek channels. The big fish caught in the tournament had nice dark color, and looked like they had been shallow for awhile now. So maybe it’s a sign that they are wanting to get up shallow.

Idk, just hope my fishing and decision making gets better. It sure sucked yesterday.

When I went fishing on Friday I caught 2 LM Bass 20 inches long and both were in shallow water. The first one charged out of some flooded grass that was in about 10 inches or so of water close to end of my retrieve;ran out a short distance of drag and then the rest of the fight was on about 10-15 feet of line with the fish cartwheeling in out of the water. It was a good way to spend my lunch break from work.So after rainstorms all night I tried fishing some Sat. morning and never had a bite.

That’s a damn nice way to spend lunch!!! I fished Friday and had a good day too. But with the falling water on Saturday we didn’t make the right adjustments. Caught fish, just the wrong ones.
