Default I-pilot and down imaging

Does the I pilot have down imaging capability or is it just 2D imaging built into the trolling motor? I'm thinking if I get a hook 9 I can always mount the down imaging transducer on my trolling motor? I currently have minnkota 70 PD but no I-Pilot. I also have a HDS7 with the transducer mounted on the transom. Would like to get down imaging on my trolling motor somehow.

I just installed a Hook 7 on mine. If this crazy weather will cooperate, I might be able to try it out lol

If you attach a down imaging transducer to your trolling motor, you are going to have a problem with routing the transducer cable so that it clears when the PD is raised and lowered.

If understanding you correctly. I already have a transducer mounted on My current minnkota PD trolling motor. Cable slides freely up-and-down so no problem there. I would just do the same with the different down imaging transducer.

Many mount a di transducer on those motors with no problems at all.

I have a power drive with transducer mounted. My PD is manual stow and release. The key is you don't attach the cord tight to the shaft. You need slack so it doesn't get pinched.

That is correct. I actually have the cable sliding freely through a zip tie that I have attached to my bracket, works very well.
