Default Drakes Creek Evening Troll

Went out trolling in drakes creek this evening for a few hours and boy it's loaded with gizzard shad there were acres of them, which always makes it tough to compete with so I decided to net a couple dozen and throw them on a 1/16 jig head and pull them right along at 0.8 mph in hopes of some nice slabs and I did catch a 11" white crappie but had no shoulders to him at all so I let him go, then i proceeded to have some fun with 4 nice 20-24" channel cats on light tackle, at one point I threw a fresh shad out and as soon as it sank down I had a vicious strike and didn't hook up, so I reeled it in only to find out that it's almost split In two, my guess is either gar or striper had a go, also did catch a nice 18" largemouth. Water temp was 68-70 when I was there, most of the fish were caught in 8-12fow it should start getting good soon with the cooler night we'very been having. Going to hit up below jpp hopefully for some whites and striper, river is still low even with the 500cfs spill normally it would be 8ft on the us 70 gauge by now but this drought is taking its toll the east and west forks have only been flowing 10-25cfs for months now hopefully we get some rain soon.
