Default First trip to Nickajack

My son is on fall break and I am going to take him to Nickajack for a little frog fishing. Never been there before.....any tips on what part of the lake might get him a tug on the line? PM's welcome

Thanks!

I can't help you with the frog bite...as many on here know I am not a largemouth guy. I overheard 5 bass guys at Nickajack say the frog bite has not started. What I can tell you is the bass are on a rampage. I caught a ton this week. They are in the jumps but even if you don't witness the jumps they are just under the surface. There is grass in the lake.....there is also grass matts floating and moving around the lake as more and more grass breaks away. Bass are following these moving matts. Most of the bass I have been catching are in the 11-13 inch range...but I am fishing UL gear so it is a great fight for me. The KY bass are also hitting good....I have caught quite a few in the 13-15 inch range. Here are a couple of pics of two bass that I am sure is the size of what you are after....these were landed with 2# test line. The bass are there....just fish the creeks.....channels....points.....and find the grass adjacent to deeper water. The bass I am catching are hitting a Midnight Blue ThunderHawk Dancer.

Regards

Default Nickajack

Mullin's cove is a little ways up the lake from Hales Bar but there is lots of grass snd i fished it a couple of weeks ago with some success. Little to warm at that time but love fishing the frog.
