I used to see the Striper guides on Lake Texoma vertical jigging slab spoons. Normally, that was the only method they used in those boats. And they caught fish!
In order for that technique to work, you have to stay on top of the schools. That is the problem this time of the year when the fish and bait schools are moving so much. If I could stay on top of a school, it would be more fun to drop a lively Alewife into the school.
I do see fishermen casting spoons on points early and late in the day. I guess fishing with a lot of rods at the same time excites me more. We have a front on the way, will see what it does to fishing, may have to try vertical jigging to catch fish!
