Default Paddlefish!

Well I checked one off my fishing bucket list this weekend and caught a paddlefish! Was fishing below cheatham and having horrible luck, breaking off rigs, getting the anchor stuck, water not cooperating and not even a bite from the cats or stripes....but was all worth it being able to catch one of these. Ever since I moved here I've wanted to see one up close. This one I caught on accident really, was fishing for skipjack with a sabiki rig and hooked into him. Tried to get him back in the water as soon as possible, he seemed to swim away ok. Really cool looking fish and from I've heard they are pretty rare and havnt changed much for thousands of years

I took my dad below the dam last year and he tied up with this one on light tackle!! Took a while to get it in the boat!

Exclamation

In the late 90's early 2000's I would fish at night below Old Hickory dam in my little bass tracker and the paddle fish would cruise below the dam skimming the surface like whales.

I would throw spoons and ect to snag them.

Had a great time during summer months catching them and white bass deeper below the surface.
