Default Kayak Crappie

I purchased a Jackson Big Rig from Caney Fork Outdoors in late January. Truth is, I had never actually ridden in a kayak before then. My intention was to set up a fishing kayak that was powered by a trolling motor. After much research, I made the decision to use a trolling motor from Electric Kayak Company. Some modifications were made once everything was installed. I made a couple of preliminary fishing trips in the kayak to test setups, but today was the real thing.

I started out fishing deep water at Woods and picked up a couple of nice fish using a Spider Rig setup. The water above the bridge is much warmer than below the bridge. Later in the day, the setup was switched to permit "pulling" jigs and it worked great.

I ended up using two rods on each side of the kayak, each line having two Crappie Magnet jigs. Here is a photo of the setup:

Here is a closer photo of today's catch:

One of the reasons I chose the Electric Kayak Trolling Motor was because they offered a tilt option to raise the motor remotely. I added a wireless FOB to make it easier to raise and lower the trolling motor from the kayak seat. Here is a closer shot of the trolling motor:

Here are some additional photos that show the spider rigging setup:

The rod holders are Hi-Tech. The horizontal bar in the setup is used to stabilize the rod holders. This setup can be used with a paddle.

Congrats. Great looking setup. Are you going to have to register it now that it has the trolling motor?

Yes, I sent the paperwork in and the license information came in the mail on Saturday while I was fishing. You have a temporary license to carry with you that is good for 30 days once you register.
