Default Drifting on the Caney

Hit the Caney with one of my sons today and got into a few big ones. Mid 70's and on 2 gens most of the day. Water was fairly clear and swift. Largest fish caught were 27" brown, 23" brown, 21" bow all on TroutMagnet cranks in 3-4 FOW. Beautiful day to be in the water for this time of year!

Thanks guys, a lot of the water we were running in was 10'-12' deep. I got some of the TM XD cranks on order, hopefully they will help pull some big fish out of those deeper holes.

You won't be disappointed in the XD cranks. They are made off the mold of the discontinued XCalibur suspending jerk baits. It will run about 8 feet deep. Cost about 10 bucks less than the XCalibur that was discontinued because of lack of sales due to cost.

Not due to lack of sales on my part I loved those things! I will be ordering some of these TM jerkbaits soon enough.

You should be fine in that size/type boat. I am in a 15' flat bottom with a 10hp tiller and a trolling motor mounted on the front. It can run about 15 mph up river against 2 generators with 2 aboard and gear. If you stay within the 1st 5 miles below the Dam you won't have to worry about navigating around bridge piers at the I-40 overpasses. Make sure to wear a PFD and do not anchor in the current.
