Default A pleasant day at the creek

After my last class I decided to hit up the creek behind my apartment with my ultralight for one hour. It was a great trip! Caught around 12 fish, mostly creek chubs (some actually around 10 inches). I did catch around 4 sunfish and the highlight of the day...an 8 inch smallmouth! Didn't expect that definitely made the trip! used trout magnets all day today. Waded into some new territory also, very cool!

Very nice. Trout magnets will catch about anything. What size line are you using?

Yes they do I just ordered my 85 piece kit! Well in the beginning when I caught the bass i was using 4lb mono with a 4lb flourocarbon leader but then I snagged and it broke off and just used the 4lb mono..still caught plenty of fish haha.

They are very fun on flies! I would fly fish for them but my fly rod is a 7wt i got for Steelhead on Lake Erie so it's kinda an overkill haha

4lb mono is fine. Unless it super clear like the caney you really don't need a leader. I like the 4lb fluoroclear that P-line makes. I have made the transition to 2 pound SOS this year after watching alpha catch tons of fish on it.

Every time I go to Academy or walmart they happen to be out of 2lb line! So I settled with 4lb. But yeah it worked fine!

I had to order my 2 lb SOS online. BPS carries the 4Lb Fluoroclear. No one that I know stocks 2Lb line.

I now also use 2# sos with tm's but before the sos I used the BPS brand 2# mono. They seem to be the only retailer carrying 2 lb test anymore.

Anyone around the Murfreesboro area needing some SOS 2# test line I can spool you up....have a 20,000 yard spool and am willing to share.
