Default New to the forum and Harpeth report today

Hello yall I'm new to the forum! Went to the Harpeth in franklin in the rain. Saw many fish and a couple nice largemouth in a pool but could not get them to bite!! I threw just about my entire tacklebox and flies at them. I had one little bass nibble at a fly but couldn't set the hook. Stopped at academy afterward and picked up an UL setup and some crappie jigs with magnet jig heads. Went home to the creek behind my apartment to get at least one fish today and ended up with a bluegill and chub on the Crappie jig which were fun on the Ultralight. Looking forward to use it again...but it costs a lot to get a license if you don't have a TN drivers license now! I think i'll just have to get a Tennessee drivers license...

Any tips on fishing around the South Nashville/Brentwood area for the new guy is also greatly appreciated!!

Thanks
Dave

Red face

Thanks for the quick replies y'all! My question i forgot to post is this...Is there a way that I can get a resident license with a full time student ID? I heard of this and tried to get a resident license with my ID at Walmart but he said it is not possible because I bought non resident licenses before. It is a pain to pay $20 every time I fish so I really hope so!

http://tn.gov/twra/

Check out the particulars with TWRA (Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency)

You should be able to qualify for a resident student license after 6mo, get your Tn DL and no worries.

Persons who possess a valid Tennessee driver's license. Tennessee state law requires drivers to obtain a Tennessee driver's license within 30 days of residency. Out-of-state drivers license only accepted for Military Personnel and Students meeting the criteria below:
Military personnel on active duty in this state and their immediate families, who reside with them, regardless of resident status.
Students who are enrolled in a Tennessee school, college, or university for at least six months (must present a student ID card or other proof of enrollment

Default Trout Magnets

If you really want to catch a lot of fish in the Harpeth/ Little Harpeth, throw trout magnets. I have caught many species in the harpeth on them. They will catch anything from bass to panfish, even Carp. If you can see the fish like you ad mentioned, I like to throw a bison or purple redemption color without the float and try various retrieves to see what they want. If you don't see the fish, put on the TM float and adjust it to the stream depth. If there is current let it drift, if not, fish it in a pop pause pop pop pause cadence, just let th fish tell you what they want, it changes daily. Good luck! I am also in the Brentwood area so if you want to fish sometime PM me! welcome to the forum
