Default Fish ID

My wife and I were fishing bluegill earlier on the Cumberland and she caught this fish. There is a dot on the tail not in the pics. No boney stucture and had scales. Any ideas?

Not sure what they are but I have caught them around Murfreesboro in some of the little rivers I used to fish.
