Theres plenty of opportunities there around Gatlinburg and pigeon forge. You can go from fishing for the bronzies on the little pigeon to catching brookies 3000+ feet up in a hour. If your looking for some trout action I would recommend going higher in elevation say 2500ft+ do to the higher water temps in the lower elevations. Upper little river above elkmont or the upper Greenbrier area are all good places to try for trout this time of year. Most of the fishing in the smokies is bank fishing with the execption of the French broad river, Douglas lake and the little tennessee river chain to name a few

Hey thanks for the reply, we went and did some hiking today around gsmnp, mostly toward s Cades cove. I stopped and fished a couple times but no luck. Tons of people here so that is kind of a bummer. I may just try here in town in the morning but don't have a lot of wiggle room for fishing this trip haha, thanks again for the info and that site

I fished Douglas last weekend. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME!!!! The coolest water we seen was 87 and the hottest was 96. Had one bite in two days of fishing and it was a 16" large mouth.
