Default JPP Sunday

Went out early to search for new spots .....kinda day. Used my HDS7 to locate contour lines off shore were the water changes from 10-20 ft and also had brush. Found several spots as I trolled looking at sonar for most of the morning. Mostly between four corners and Hong Kong. Ended up with 12 fish. I kept 5 Crappie and 1 catfish. Also caught 5 bass that I released, Plus a drum. All on crankbaits, I had 3 rods out. It was a Relaxing time and enjoyed searching!! I would go from spot to spot but didn't put lines out unless I seen brush or fish activity. I have that great HDS7 unit so I think I should probably use it effectively. I'll download some screen shots and post laster.

Side note: My girls can put away some fried crappie and catfish!

Tasty looking bunch of fish, John!

Trolling for crappie in this heat can be very productive.

From what depth did you catch most of them?

Merv I would say most were caught around 12-15ft.

I use small crappie crankbaits natural and bright colors, trolling about 1.5-1.8 mph. My distance of my line is this:
Make a long cast and while boat is moving let the line out for another 5 seconds. Probably out 30-40 yards at best. Very high tech, right. LOL Just a feel I guess I've always done it that way.

Sounds about like the way I do it.
300 Bandits, cast as far as I can, two rod sweeps (approx. 15 ft each sweep),,,,,,,,,,,,,, set the rod in a holder and repeat....6-8 rods.
