Hybrids at Tims Ford
This is what Hybrids looked like in a cove at Tims Ford the other day. The entire cove was full of fish:
These are Alewives under the boat attracted with a Green Magnet light at night:
This is a bait tank with some of the Alewives in it!
Used an 8' Old Salt Deep Hole cast net to get down to the Alewives. There were at least 100 baits in this photo:
I took those baits to that cove with the Hybrids and started fishing at daybreak. By 5:46 am, I had boated 20 Hybrids from six to eight pounds. Decided to troll for Rockfish and boated 13 fish using Urigs. Largest was 11 pounds. Fishing is just getting better!

DANG! that is such a pretty sight when you see that on your sonar. Tons of fish feeding all throughout the water column. Glad you had a good trip out.

Fish spaghetti....that's the stuff right there. I didn't realize there were alewives in Tims. That helps out a lot once the fish go deep.
Its about time to hit that up on Percy.

For the last 28 years, I have believed that you could not consistently catch live bait at Tims. Thanks to some of the guys who fish in the East TN lakes, I can now catch live bait on Tims. Changes everything.

First post but not introducing yourself that may come across a bit rude to some folks, maybe you would get more action at tims if you were not having so much fun with the crappie at woods I heard, any news on Dan?

Sounds like you had a great day at tims as usual Aero, may have a chance to fish in a couple of weeks for first time in a while, may give tims a try for a change, you certainly know how to catch them, congrats!

About how long did the light take to attract the bait? Is this a night before you fish thing or do you think it could be done a couple hours before daylight? Thanks

I know aero pretty well and we talk every time he's coming home from the lake.
He gets to the lake a coupla hours before daylight, goes to a spot 27 ft deep, sets his light out and waits about 15-30 minutes then starts casting. He says it usually doesn't take many throws til he's got his bait. Sometimes he'll put a bait on a hook and fish below the light and catch hybrids.
Your welcome aero!

I went out again this morning. I arrived at the lake at 2:45am, motored out to a bait spot and used the Terrova to hold position. It was windy this morning. I set out the Green Magnet, then filled the bait tank with water and treated it. Within a few minutes, bait was showing up on the depthfinder. Probably had waited 15 minutes. Caught a net full of baits on first throw and kept the best 20. Was finished catching bait at 4:00 am and fished under the boat for about thirty minutes. Caught a Hybrid and had a couple of more bites. Started fishing for real at 5:00 am!
