Default Jpp 6/14

found plenty of crappie today in the morning. They were all in the 9-1/2 to 9-34" range. Only managed 2 keepers. Boat loads of little yellows too....stupid minnow snatching things. Why minnows you ask? Cause I thought it would be a swell idea to leave all my jigs, plastics, crappie cranks and jigging raps at home. THAT was a great discovery first thing in the morning to set the tone for the rest of the day! Aside from that, which wasn't the end of the world, I haven't found nearly the bait this year so far as I used to see. Years past I would come across big clouds of baits every few minutes or so and the crappies were always right with me, today was just a little pod here and there, and didn't really have many hits when I did find the bait. Crappies I caught were all in 11'. Near brush, but not in it. Kinda crazy, I've never seen them behave like this before. Usually at this water temp I'm covered up in bait and crappies, cats and the rare small hybrid mixed in. I tried deep brush, 16-22' and never got the first sniff. Are the shad doing something funky this year or something? Anybody else seeing the "normal" baitfish amounts in comparison to other years?
