Default Kayak fishing Old Hickory 4/23/15

Got off work early today and took the kayak out to fish OH from 4 to 6 this evening. I didn't have much luck with my soft baits so I switched to a shallow diving crank and managed to catch 4 fish! 1 blue gill, 2 largemouths(one having some good size to her, to me atleast) and one fish I'm not too familiar with. If someone wants to help me ID it, that'd be awesome. I put two photos of it. Sorry, I'm still a newb haha altogether a good day though!

Is the "ID" fish the first two pictures you posted? If so I see a lot of that coloration and jaw type on bass in the mid-lake area around Cages Bend. If you closed its mouth would the back of the jaw fall short of its eye, even with the eye or beyond the eye? It could be a hybrid cross between a smallmouth and a largemouth. It is not a cross between a largemouth and spotted bass. Next time you catch one, check the jaw in relation to the eye and try to determine what sort of tooth patch is on its tongue, either one or two.

Nice outing Chris.

What part of the lake were you on? Above or below Hwy 109 is all I am asking for an idea of water color on an area of the lake I want to fish.

This was actually in station camp creek so close to cages bend. I believe it's jaw was a bit short of the eye, but not positive. I'll have to take a look a look next time, thanks!
