Default Near state record

Carp that is. My friend and I were out after hybrids on Percy Priest on Friday morning/afternoon when my buddy hooked into this giant. It took at least a good ten minutes for him to wear him out enough on 10lb line for me to get it in the net and in the boat. The boga grips said 49 lbs.

I'm not a carp expert but this appears to be a common carp and the state record is 54 pounds so this one is pretty close. Anyway, we weighed and got some photos and it was released.

We did manage to catch some gamefish as well. Several small hybrids and quite a few white bass.

That's a tank!

It's not a common carp instead a buffalo. Not sure whether its a Black or Big Mouth version though.

Here's the lake records for them though:

Bigmouth Buffalo 52 lbs. 2 oz. Not Available Greg Megibben Not Available April 6, 2001
Black Buffalo 54 lbs. 8 oz. Anderson Road Marion J. Lovell Deep Wee-R May 24,

Thanks Travis, you are correct. It is a buffalo. I honestly didn't know the difference but found a decent article online.

Looks like you had a fun day. Nice catch. Always on anticipation to see what's on the other end of the line.

I once worked in Tchula, MS. There was an old man who sold fish plates out of a makeshift food truck in the bed of a 60s model Chevy. He sold Buffalo ribs.

I missed out, but his catfish was good.
