My comments were not supposed to get a fight brewing. I don't care what you fish out of, Bass boat, kayak, inner tube. I don't care what you pull it with, ride your damn tricycle for all I care. I understand having patience but when it's busy try your best to get in and out in a hurry. Doc Marshal the jap car comment was only made because of the other post that started discussing Global warming... or climate change and smart cars pulling trailers with kayaks on them. If your kayak is not laying sideways blocking half the ramp, good for you. I would say the same thing if big boat and launched then parked on the ramp it does not matter what you fish out of. And your kayak is plastic, or polymer if you prefer that term, it's ok if it sits on the gravel or rocks, pretty sure the ramp will scratch it just as much as gravel or rock. I pull my boat up on the rocky bank if I have to, but then again my boat is not 40k. Look, I did not want to get a fight going between the fishing groups but it happened because people seem to have taken things personally because you can't perceive humor and sarcasm online. Alright, I am off to make more coffee at my office because I work with people who do not make a fresh pot after finishing the old one......... this annoys me too, lets see if I can piss people off at my office this morning by making a smart A$$ comment. Can't we all just get along.

I too dislike waiting, but I've also sat in line at the ramp while bass boaters struggled with their engines or yelled at their wives to back up the truck etc. This is all par for the course at a public lake. The patience is all part of the courtesy.

I drive an old Japanese car, not only because I hate America, but because I don't want to waste money on fuel or car payments. I need that money for guitars and mircrobrews.

Next time I'll drive down that ramp on a girl's tricycle and spend an hour unloading my inner tube and teddy bears. Each one needs a separate outfit.

There are few things I hate more in life than people who do that. There are people here who leave the last few ounces in the pot without starting another brew so the next guy is left with a tiny bit of old, burnt coffee. I equate them with Obama supporters. Although I got a little steamed this morning when two old geezers (about my age) pulled their boat onto the ramp apron and then started prepping the boat for launch.

They gave me a dirty look when I almost brushed the one guy with my truck as he was standing 8 ft away from the boat, chatting with the other guy and I pulled onto the apron to back down the ramp.

Ramp etiquette is not limited to power boats.

You can bet that if and when it becomes a real problem, TWRA will offer you guys a nature trail to launch a kayak from. Fact is, you don't even need a ramp when there is miles of shoreline.

From what I've heard TWRA is talking with some paddling groups about what paddlers would like to see for access. The people fishing from these crafts are so small compared to the paddle community as a whole. Most of the time I don't use a ramp if there is a decent, safe area to shore launch from I would much rather do that anyway. Last night I parked my truck in the lot, threw my kayak over my shoulder and carried it 35-40 yards to the grassy area where I launched from 75' from the actual concrete "boat" ramp. I then made 5-7 trips for rods, electronics, battery, tackle, coffee, and all the other crap I take with me. I took my sweet time, and was not rushed by anyone. The only time I was held up was when this near 80 year old guy wouldn't leave me alone when I was trying to leave, but that was ok.

I pull my little 80# kayak with a trailer and full size American 4X4 truck. The kayak gets 15 miles per gallon of coffee, and 1 Cliff bar, or Pop Tarts so I figure I'll drive a gas guzzler.

As far as the coffee situation at work I cannot stand community coffee so I brew 12 cups for work everyday, it gets me by for 8 hrs.

If a kayak (or canoe, etc.) is used on a body of water where all other boats have to be registered, then they should have to be registered.

We don't but when I'm in a hurry to get on the water I don't want to make several long trips to and from my Jeep to my kayak that is off on the side of the bank through the woods somewhere.
