Newbie, welcome.

"Teach me how to fish" is a tall order for a single Internet forum post. Whole series of books have been written on it.

If you just want to get your feet wet and catch a few, the best "starter" rig is a small hook around #8 size, with a couple split shot sinkers for weight about 18 inches up, and a bobber about 3 or 4 feet above the hook. Buy some worms and put about half a worm on a hook, and you're all set. Find a deeper hole with some shade, pitch out, and wait. If you don't get a bite in 10 minutes or so, cast to a different spot until you find fish.

If you want to get more advanced, small lures like rooster tail spinners and "mister twister" grubs will get you some action.

Keep in mind that bigger lures tend to catch bigger fish, but fewer fish. After you catch a lot of the little guys and get the basics down, it'll be time to start getting into more advanced stuff. But this will be a good place to start.

Good luck!

bd
Thank you bd,
I read a lot about this, stuff for beginner, others not specified but I think for more professional, but the most not talking in details about the gear and how to use them in a particular place.

The information I get from you, and from others here, was very helpful and would be good start for me. I think that I got the first step into the right direction.
