Game & fish licensing are about the fairest form of taxation in the nation. If you are actively seeking trout, buy the stamp. If you are deer hunting, buy the permit, and so on. I wish property taxes were structured the same way. If you are using the school system, pay the taxes. If you have no kids, you ought to get a cheaper rate...but they didn't ask me.

Well said. I don't know why people try to skimp out of an $18 stamp.

I decided the wind was blowing to much for my first time trying a fly rod yesterday. Decided to take the kayak out instead. Had a pretty good day!

Very nice fish! How are the water conditions. I just got home from Illinois and the rivers around the house are up and nasty.

I was on the east fork of the stones yesterday. Water was just about perfect for this time of year. My son and I went to the river today to have a look and it was chocolate and rolling. That river seems like it can change in the blink of an eye.

This issue has been brought up several times so I'd agree with everyone else and say it is definitely not a dumb question.

I agree with everyone else's advice, go ahead and buy the stamp. Your trout stamp goes to fund the hatching, raising, and eventual stocking of the trout you will be enjoying for sport, dinner, or both!

Keep in mind, your stamp will only be good through February. And then it's time to get another one!
